<strong>Course overview</strong><br/><br/>On our BA (Hons) Chinese Studies course youll immerse yourself in Chinese language, culture and society. Youll also learn to master Chinese (Mandarin) - the worlds most spoken language.<br/><br/>Alongside gaining a deep understanding of China, youll explore the culture, politics, and international role of the Asia Pacific region. <br/><br/>The Asia Pacific is a region that plays a key role in the global economy. Through studying this course, you will understand why this region is so important in the global economy. Youll explore the culture and history, politics, and society of the region. You will gain employability skills and transferable expertise for many career opportunities.<br/><br/>You will also become fluent in Chinese (Mandarin), a language from the Asia Pacific region. You do not need any previous knowledge of Chinese.<br/><br/>With our study abroad programme you will gain invaluable experience with the opportunity to spend a year abroad in China as part of your studies. <br/><br/><strong>Why study this course</strong><br/><br/><br/>• Develop the knowledge and language skills you’ll need to succeed in global business, including interpreting.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Make the most of our Worldwise Learning Centre, with free access to Rosetta Stone for your guided study time.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• You’ll be taught by lecturers who are experts in their respective areas<br/><br/><br/><br/><strong>What you’ll do</strong><br/><br/><br/>• Each year, you’ll study the region’s history, environment, society and culture, together with the Chinese language.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• You’ll have the option of spending a year studying abroad, learning the Chinese language and culture through total immersion.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• You’ll study using the latest industry-standard equipment in our professional interpreting suites, together with our Worldwise Learning Centre. <br/><br/><br/><br/><strong>Future careers</strong> <br/><br/>Our BA (Hons) Chinese Studies course combines Chinese language skills with a broad-based understanding of the region’s culture, history, politics and society. This will prepare you for a range of careers in – or connected to – the region.<br/><br/>The main focus of this degree course is developing fluency in Chinese. By getting an insight into cultural context you’ll develop a range of transferrable skills. Youll get a well-rounded understanding of the Asia Pacific.
