Either before or after your year abroad, you will gain invaluable experience working in industry. Companies currently offering placements include multinationals such as Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, Mondelez, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Pepsico, EDF, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca and British Sugar, City businesses and smaller companies such as Aspentech, CalGavin and Croda.

Project work – highly valued by employers – is a thread that runs throughout our degree programmes in order to create well-rounded chemical engineers. Problems are posed in a ‘real-world’ environment where decisions need to be made when data and information are scarce. As a Chemical Engineering with International and Industrial Study MEng student, your final-year research project will also give you the opportunity to take part in the School’s own world-leading research work, giving you an insight into how the subject is developing at the cutting edge.
