The role of computing and computer software in creative settings is explored on our new BSc (Hons) Creative Computing degree course that will have you exploring how technology can enhance the creative industries.<br/><br/>With access to our cutting-edge, industry-standard facilities at UCA Farnham, you’ll learn about programming, data types and databases, web design and development and user interfaces, while creative visual coding is developed with applications in image and sound processing. <br/><br/>Artificial intelligence, which is critical to modern computing, will also be studied in depth, exploring its applications in creative domains such as music and the visual arts. Implementing real industry briefs, you’ll develop a range of software by-products and explore different areas of animation. <br/><br/>Elective units also allow you to explore topics such as digital storytelling, sound and image processing, and motion capture and virtual production technologies, ensuring you graduate with the theoretical frameworks and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in industry.

We consider the strength of our applicants’ portfolios as well as their grades and we therefore may make offers which are lower than our standard entry criteria of 112 tariff points. This may be to students who have faced difficulties that have affected their performance and who were expected to achieve higher results - in these cases, a strong portfolio is especially important. We regularly admit students with a tariff much higher than our standard 112 requirement, and applicants who show potential but aren’t quite at the stage to be able to succeed on the course are offered a 4 year degree with an integrated foundation year which has a standard entry requirement of 32 tariff points.
