You will be given the chance to develop an understanding which is essential to successfully completing the degree.<br/><br/>The full BSc degree will focus on the application of mathematical ideas and computational skills to cutting edge real world problems. This is an exciting field with rapid developments in areas such as modelling, graphics, security, data analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence which are all underpinned by mathematical ideas. Through this degree students will not only learn about the theoretical foundations of such ideas, but also develop the practical skills in programming and problem solving that employers are looking for.<br/><br/>The new £32.5M Computational Foundry building at our Bay Campus gives students access to bespoke study and teaching spaces designed by and for mathematicians and computer scientists.<br/><br/>Our Mathematics Reading Room provides a quiet study space for mathematics students, as well as housing a departmental library of resources for study and research, and our state of the art computer labs include a vision and biometric lab, maker lab, theory lab, cyber security/networking lab, user lab and visualisation suite. <br/><br/>We are ranked:<br/>• 3rd in the UK for Student Satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2025)<br/>• 7th in the UK (Guardian University 2025)<br/>• 13th in the UK for Teaching Quality (Guardian University 2025)<br/>• Top 201-250 in the World Computer Science & Mathematics (QS World University Rankings 2025)<br/><br/>Mathematics graduates typically earn salaries 50% higher than the average graduate.
