English Studies at Queen's brings together a variety of specialist approaches under a single subject heading. Our literature modules encourage students to look at a writer's works in the context of the historical period, the cultural background, and the literary genres to which these works belong. Including A-level English and French. Note: for applicants who have not studied A-level French then AS-level French grade B would be acceptable in lieu of A-level French. For applicants who have not studied A-level English then AS-level English (grade A) would be acceptable in lieu of A-level English. Beginners French ABB including A-level English + GCSE French grade B/6 or GCSE grade B/6 in another modern language (not GCSE English Language) Note: If the language is studied at a higher level then the grade required at that level must be achieved. The Beginners' option is not available to those who have studied A-level or AS-level French. A-level General Studies and Critical Thinking are normally excluded from offers. However, the grade achieved may be taken into account when results are published in August and may be used in a tie-break situation.
