Economics and Finance BSc (Hons)

This combined Economics and Finance degree gives you a strong foundation in economic concepts, theories, ideas and tools to understand modern economies, and knowledge of the financial markets.<br/><br/>Economic concepts and theories provide ‘big picture’ analysis of how firms, individuals and governments make decisions that affect the availability of money and allocation of resources. Finance focuses on the financial tools, instruments and markets which make and manage public, personal and corporate finance.<br/><br/>You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of areas such as financial markets, investment and portfolio management, corporate finances, international economics and trade, behavioural finance, financial techniques and analysis, and economic modelling. In doing so, you will develop valuable analytical, numerical, data analysis and problem-solving skills. This helps you to understand how people, firms, institutions and governments make decisions, and the implications of such decisions on individuals, businesses and society.<br/><br/>Our trading floor provides hands-on experience of the same tools used by the world’s leading banks, corporations, governments and government agencies. With access to current and historical financial data for the UK and overseas markets, you’ll put your knowledge of financial theory into practice in a safe environment.<br/><br/>‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
