What time are A-level results released?

On August 15th, you can expect results to be live from around 8:15am on UCAS Hub. As thousands of others will be accessing their results at the same time, do expect some delays in loading times. What if I don't get the A-level results I want?

You won't be alone - there are plenty of students who will be in the same position as you, but that doesn't mean you won't have secured a place at university. Check your UCAS Hub to see if your first or second choice university has confirmed your place.

If not, talking to a teacher at your school will help you form your next steps - whether that's contacting your uni of choice to see if they're considering offering you a place, considering retaking your a-levels or finding your next dream university through Clearing.

When is A-level results day in 2025?

A-Level Results Day 2024 is on Thursday, 15th August 2024. On this day, students throughout the United Kingdom will receive their highly-anticipated A-Level examination results, which will ascertain their eligibility for higher education opportunities. These results are typically released online by individual examination boards, in addition to being accessible via the candidate's respective schools or colleges.

Key Points to Remember:

1. Date: Thursday, 15th August 2024
2. Results Release: Online through exam boards' websites and via schools or colleges
3. Importance: Determines eligibility for university and higher education options

Students should prepare in advance by acquainting themselves with the specific process implemented by their school or college for accessing results, as well as understanding the UCAS Clearing system just in case they need to explore alternative university courses or institutions.

In Scotland, SQA results day will be on 6th August 2024.

My A-level grades are lower than expected

All is not over in regards to your university, life and career. Although it may feel terrible to get grades lower than you thought, there are still so many options for you. Firstly, don’t panic or cry – if you really want to you can do that later! – You have work to do! Students who receive lower grades than predicted can enter UCAS Clearing and find themselves a university and a degree course.

Next, if you don’t want to go to your firm choice or your offer has been withdrawn from the university, students can enter Clearing. Students are able to find out which degree courses and universities have spaces available, call them up to speak to someone, and that university can offer you a space on the phone.

However, students should be careful during Clearing, as whatever course they place on their UCAS Hub is the one they HAVE to accept – there isn’t much to give at this point. But students don’t have to accept the first offer they receive. Once you receive an offer, spend the time to think about it, Google where it is, if it is close enough, try to visit for a few hours!
